🏝️ House Notes

Airflow, windows & island living

  • When you’re out for the day, feel free to leave the lanai door open as long as the screen door is closed.
  • Geckos occasionally make surprise appearances. That’s normal in Hawaii.
  • Despite regular pest control, you may occasionally see ants, small flies, or the rare cockroach.
  • The living room jalousie windows can be left slightly angled downward to improve airflow while helping keep rain out.

❄ Bedroom AC & electric blinds

Please do not move the bedroom AC unit. It is secured for proper exhaust and condensation drainage.

  • Use the AC mainly in the evenings, about 30 minutes before bed, and while sleeping.
  • Close the jalousie windows and the bedroom door when using the AC.
  • The ceiling fan helps keep the room comfortable through the night.
  • The bedroom blinds are electric and controlled by the remote mounted next to the window.
  • Press the down arrow once to lower the blinds and the up arrow once to raise them.
  • Please do not remove the remote from its holder.

🏖️ Beach gear & linens

  • Beach chairs and a beach umbrella are in the bedroom closet.
  • Beach towels are in the linen closet next to the washer/dryer.

🍳 Kitchen notes

  • Please hand-wash the knives in the knife block.
  • Please hand-wash the Henckels frying pans.
  • Everything else, within reason, is dishwasher-safe.
  • Beach coolers are available, and ice packs are in the freezer.

🧺 Laundry

  • Please do not use liquid fabric softener in the washer.
  • Please do not use dryer sheets in the dryer.
  • Two dryer balls are provided. Please leave them in the dryer.
  • Leave the washer door slightly ajar when not in use to reduce moisture and keep it fresh.

🚪 Bedroom door

  • Please keep the bedroom door propped open when unoccupied using the black rubber door stopper.
  • This helps airflow and prevents the door from slamming when the Kona tradewinds blow through.

💧 Drinking water

There’s a bottom-load water cooler in the kitchen.

Refills are about $2 at:

  • Shell Gas Station – 75-5675 Kuakini Hwy
  • Walmart Parking Lot (SE corner) – 75-1015 Henry Street

Our cleaner often fills the bottle before guests arrive, so you may not need to refill it.

💛 A Small Personal Note

This is our actual home, not just a rental property. While we do our best to tuck away personal items before guests arrive, there may still be a few belongings visible or accessible.

We kindly ask that you respect these personal items and not use anything that clearly appears personal. Mahalo nui loa — we really appreciate it.

Mahalo and enjoy your time in paradise!
Aloha, Michael & Wendy
